I love music. Every day I have a song in my head and my heart. I am picky about the music I listen to, but I listen to all genres. As long as the song has a rhythm or a message I like, I will listen to it. Previously I posted about my top work out and walk/run songs. Today, I am just posting some of my favorite songs. Songs that get me through my day and my life. There is no rhyme or reason to the list, it’s just what music I enjoy today. Tomorrow, there could be a totally different song in there, but that’s life itself. Things come and go with your mood and state of mind, and this list reflects my state of mind today.
Gina’s Top 10 Songs of 5/30/2012 (Posting from #10 to my #1 song of the day)
10. Somebody that I Used to Know – Gotye (featuring Kimbra)
I have no idea who these singers are, but I do know that I LOVE the song and it plays on repeat in my head for hours if I hear it anytime during the day, and it doesn’t bother me.
9. Divorce Song – Liz Phair
I love the melody, I love the lyrics, I love her. But here’s my favorite line:
“And it’s true that I stole your lighter,
and it’s also true that I lost the map,
but when you said I wasn’t worth talking to,
I had to take your word on that.”
8. Caress Me Down – Sublime
This is such a dirty, fun, and sexy song. Swoon…
7. Creep in the Cellar – Butthole Surfers
This song plays in my head when there isn’t a new song rollin’ around in there. My all time FAVORITE BAND! FAVORITE!
6. Someone Like You – Adele
I like this song. It makes me reminisce. That’s all.
5. It’s Tricky – Run DMC
I do enjoy this song, but today it happens to be on my Top 10. Last week, maybe Top 40, but because I went to see an 80’s cover band who played SOOO much good shit, this one stuck. By the way, anyone in the Sacramento area should check out 8 Track Massacre. SOOO FUN!
4. Bob – NOFX
I f*(&ing LOVE LOVE this song. It brings me such joy, AND I love that my daughter loves it as well. I love when we have a Bob sing-along in the car, at the top of our lungs.
3. Running for Our Lives – Marianne Faithfull
“Move along staying close to the wall,
Looking over your shoulder just in time.
Avoid the light, close your eyes
And put your hand in mine
Her gravelly voice kicks ass
2. Swamp Song – Tool
Doesn’t matter what day it is, this song will be in my Top Ten. I use it to push through the pain of a work out and I use it to push through the pain of a tough day.
1. Joan of Arc – Leonard Cohen
This song makes me ache.
